General Guests are met at the resort entrance and shown to the villa where an explanation of all the main facilities is given. Freshly laundered bed linen and towels are provided. The house is professionally cleaned immediately before you arrive ensuring you enjoy a pleasurable stay. A welcome pack including coffee, tea, milk, sugar, bread, butter, marmalade, orange juice and bottled water is waiting for you at the house, ensuring you have a comfortable start to your holiday no matter what time of day you arrive. | NEARBY AMENITIES The Murcia region is situated on the Costa Calida (which is otherwise known as the "warm coast") and is between Costa Blanca and Costa de Almeria. Alicante Airport is about 45 mins drive and Murcia-San Javier airport is about 15 mins drive from La Torre, making the resort easily accessible from anywhere in the UK & overseas. Getting around the region is easy by car as the area has a modern road network connecting all the major towns. If you decide not to hire a car then airport transfers can be arranged at a small cost.
San Pedro Del Pinatar & Lo Pagan - The appeal of this area revolves around the salt marshes and man-made 'pans' where salt is harvested, now a protected Nature Park. Migrating birds use the marshes as a stop over and bird-watching is popular. The mineral content of the mud makes it a sought after remedy or conditioner, especially for the skin and there are several therapy spas. Lo Pagan is a town with the largest are of open-area mud baths in Europe. The towns and beaches themselves combine to form the most popular Mar Menor resort, offering a wide variety of bars and restaurants.
Los Alcazares & Los Narejos - Together smaller than San Pedro, these two neighbours sit right at the centre point of the Mar Menor coast and have an excellent range of modern facilities, including a sizeable marina. They also have a long history, both as fishing ports and as spa towns. Fiesta are big news here, including a week in mid October, a medieval one at the end of August and 'La Huerta', a celebration of local produce across the last two weeks of August.
San Javier - Probably best known for the local name of Murcia Airport (2 miles away), since 1998 San Javier has been the home of an increasingly popular jazz festival in late June. San Javier itself is just off the coast, a well established town with a long history illustrated in its museum. It has excellent shopping & leisure facilities, including an impressive sports centre.
The Mar Menor - This is separated from the Meditteranean by a strip of sand 22km long, which forms a barrier and has created a shallow and warm lagoon. There are over 44km of beaches with protected bays and coves on the sides of the Mar Menor and the water is no more than 7m at its deepest point, along with this the absence of tides, makes the Mar Menor an excellent location for all types of water sports as well as an ideal place for the kids.

La Torre Golf Resort area
There are many interesting towns and villages to visit in the region including:
CARTAGENA - The capital of the region founded by the Carthargenians in 227 BC - Hannibal’s capital city on the Iberian Peninsula. The narrow streets of the old town were built around the ruined 13th century cathedral and there are several sites of historical interest including the remains of the Roman road, an old Roman theatre, and an ancient lighthouse of Moorish origins.
SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR where there is a nature reserve on the salt flats, one of the prime areas of ecological importance in Murcia. Migratory flamingos make their way to Africa via this spot each September (also spotted in May); an excellent location for watching a variety of migratory birds.
There is a marina and a promanade to walk alongside the long sandy beach, and a weekly market to shop for local produce (Monday).
BEACHES: There are beautiful sandy beaches all along the Mar Menor from San Pedro del Pinatar to Santiago de la Ribera to Los Alcazares with it's mile long promenade, marina, excellent shops, restaurants and bars, and a new shopping mall complete with cinema. Each October, the town celebrates its municipal independence, granted in 1983, with a spectacular week long fiesta.
