Set in lush, mature gardens, Tavira Garden is a quiet, family-oriented complex with excellent facilities including 2 adult pools, 2 kids pools, gym (with personal trainer on hand), tennis, boules, kids play areas, BBQ areas, ample parking, etc. Only 30 minutes from Faro airport, Tavira Garden is ~15 minutes on foot from the centre of the historic town of Tavira. Tavira boasts Phoenician, Roman, Moorish, Crusader and other remains – including a Roman bridge still in everyday use. The town abounds with restaurants, old churches, bric-a-brac shops and boutiques, and the town council organises a steady stream of entertainment during the season – street theatre, exhibitions, concerts, film festival, circus, etc. Fishing is still a major local source of employment and this is reflected in the menus of the very reasonably priced restaurants. The nearby Ilha da Tavira (Tavira Island, reached by 10 minute ferry ride or by an old train straight out of a kids’ cartoon) boasts 8 miles/12 km of some of the best and least crowded beaches in the Algarve. The Ria Formosa Nature Park, the historic and picturesque Guadiana Valley with its walled towns, and the Algarve hills, are all within easy reach. Express buses and trains permit day trips to Seville or Lisbon. Several golf courses are within 5 to 15 minutes drive – one hour will bring you to practically every well known course in the Algarve or to Isla da Canela and Islantilla just over the border in Spain.
With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge, dining room, the 120sqm/1300sqft duplex apartment is luxuriously equipped to accommodate 4 to 6 guests. The individual front door opens directly onto the gardens beside one of the pool areas. Internally, the front door opens into a lobby area off which are the dining room and the kitchen. From this lobby area, steps lead down to the living area and up to the bedrooms. The living area and both bedrooms are air-conditioned; with the exception of the kitchen, all windows are fitted with “blackout curtains”.
The master bedroom has double bed, individual bedside tables and reading lamps, wardrobe, chest of drawers, mirror, etc. There is a bathroom en suite off this bedroom with bath, shower, WC, bidet, shaver socket, mirror, etc.
The second bedroom has twin beds with shared bedside locker and reading lamp, wardrobe, chest of drawers, mirror, etc. The second bathroom is adjacent to this bedroom; it has shower, WC, shaver socket, mirror, etc.
Bedlinen is changed, and apartment cleaned, each 6 to 8 days; towels changed, and bathrooms cleaned, each 3 to 4 days. The apartment is managed by the complex management who can provide additional maid-service on request.
The dining room has an elegant glass-topped 6-seater dining table. Crockery, cutlery, glassware, etc, is provided to cater comfortably for six people. The dining room also has a two-seater couch which doubles as a pull-out bed capable of accommodating two children or one adult (a camp-bed and/or a travel cot can also be provided).
The living room has two couches – 1x3-seater, 1x2-seater, stools, graceful standard lamps, occasional tables, prints, etc. Equipment includes stereo unit, video player and Sat TV with BBC & ITV 1 to 4; BBC World; Sky News, CNN; etc.
A full set of cooking utensils is provided and appliances include 4-plate electric hob + oven, microwave, cordless kettle, coffee percolator + grinder, toaster, juicer, cordless soup-maker, fondue set, etc. There are also fridge/freezer, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, iron/board, drying frame, etc. There is no washing machine but the complex has a self service launderette where washing machine + drier may be used at a charge of €5,-- for three hours (2008).
The access area for the apartment is pedestrianised with ample safe parking close by. The complex grounds, the gardens and the common areas are well lit at night. |
