A path leads from the cottage around the tidal pond to the seafront at Emsworth Quay, passing swans, ducks, fishing boats and yachts along the way, and on to Langstone Harbour (across from Hayling Island) with coastal walks, cycle tracks and beaches. Swan Cottage is very near the centre of this historic town, which has an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants and many interesting shops, including two good convenience stores. Portsmouth and Port Solent, Chichester, Fishbourne Roman Palace, Arundel and Goodwood are all within an easy drive.
